Starting and finishing at the precariously balanced airstrip in Lukla, this high-altitude epic provides fascinating insights into the Sherpa culture of the Solukhumbu region, and the chance to gaze on the tallest mountain on Earth – Mt Everest, known as Sagarmatha in Nepal, and Chomolungma in neighboring Tibet. High-quality lodges line the entire route, but the trails can get very busy, particularly during the October–November high season.
