Marie Curie

If you Google game-changing women in science, you’ll likely find Marie Curie at the top of the list. She was a Polish-French physicist and chemist who made major contributions to physics and chemistry, including the discovery of radium, which is used today in radiation treatments for cancer. Marie’s work earned her not one but two Nobel Prizes, in 1903 and 1911. If you’ve ever had an X-ray to check for a broken bone or other issue, you can thank her (and her daughter Irene) for that.
